Turn off power to your HVAC system at the breaker
Remove the old thermostat faceplate
Take a photo of the existing wiring
Label each wire with the provided stickers
Remove the old thermostat base
Check Nest compatibility with the wiring
Install the Nest base on the wall
Feed the wires through the center opening
Connect each wire to the matching Nest terminal
Attach the Nest display to the base
Restore power to the HVAC system
Follow the on-screen setup instructions
Connect the Nest thermostat to Wi-Fi
Configure system type and preferences
Test heating and cooling functions
