3 to 4 pounds pork shoulder or pork butt
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon black pepper
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1 cup barbecue sauce
1/2 cup chicken broth or water
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 onion, sliced
Pat the pork dry
Mix salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, and chili powder
Rub the seasoning all over the pork
Place the sliced onion in the slow cooker
Add the pork on top of the onion
Mix barbecue sauce, chicken broth or water, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar
Pour the sauce mixture over the pork
Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or on high for 5 to 6 hours
Cook until the pork is very tender and shreds easily
Remove the pork from the slow cooker
Shred the pork with two forks
Remove excess fat
Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker
Mix the pork with the cooking juices and more barbecue sauce if desired
Serve on buns, sandwiches, tacos, or with sides
