How To Make Homemade Donuts?

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

1/4 cup warm water

3/4 cup warm milk

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Oil for frying

Powdered sugar, glaze, or cinnamon sugar for coating

Dissolve yeast in warm water

Add warm milk, sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt

Mix in flour until a soft dough forms

Knead dough until smooth and elastic

Place dough in a greased bowl

Cover and let rise until doubled in size

Roll out dough on a floured surface

Cut into donut shapes

Place cut donuts on a tray and let rise again

Heat oil to 350°F

Fry donuts until golden on both sides

Drain on paper towels

Coat with powdered sugar, glaze, or cinnamon sugar
