How To Steam Vegetables?

Rinse and cut vegetables into even-sized pieces

Add 1 to 2 inches of water to a pot or steamer

Place a steamer basket in the pot (water should not touch the vegetables)

Bring water to a boil

Add vegetables to the steamer basket

Cover with a lid

Steam until tender-crisp or to your preferred softness

Check doneness by piercing with a fork

Remove vegetables carefully and drain excess moisture

Season immediately with salt, pepper, butter, olive oil, lemon juice, or herbs
