Use the Roku mobile app as a temporary remote
Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi network as the Roku device
Open the Roku app and select your device
Go to Settings on the Roku device
Select Remotes and devices
Select Set up a new device
Follow the on-screen prompts to pair the remote
If the remote is IR, point it directly at the Roku device and try again
Replace the remote batteries with fresh ones
Remove the batteries from the remote
Unplug the Roku device from power for 30 seconds
Plug the Roku device back in
Reinsert the batteries and try pairing again
Move closer to the Roku device during pairing
Check for obstructions between the remote and Roku device
Use the Roku app to restart the Roku device
Try pairing the remote on a different Roku device if available
If the remote still will not pair, use a compatible replacement remote
