Use condoms correctly every time you have sex
Limit the number of sexual partners
Get tested regularly for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections
Know your partner’s HIV status
Take PrEP if you are at high risk of HIV
Take PEP within 72 hours after possible HIV exposure
Do not share needles, syringes, or other injection equipment
Use only sterile needles and equipment for tattoos or piercings
Ensure blood transfusions and medical procedures use screened blood and sterile equipment
Treat HIV with antiretroviral therapy to reduce transmission risk
If pregnant and living with HIV, get treatment to prevent mother-to-child transmission
Do not share razors, toothbrushes, or items that may have blood on them
