Blow your nose gently and often
Use a saline nasal spray or rinse
Inhale steam from a warm shower or bowl of hot water
Drink plenty of fluids
Use a humidifier or add moisture to the air
Apply a warm compress over your nose and sinuses
Take an over-the-counter antihistamine if allergies are the cause
Take an over-the-counter decongestant if appropriate for you
Avoid irritants like smoke, strong scents, and dust
Rest as much as possible
Keep your head elevated
Seek medical care if symptoms are severe, persistent, or accompanied by fever, trouble breathing, or facial pain
