Turn off the light switch
Turn off power at the circuit breaker
Let the bulb cool completely
Place a stable ladder under the fixture
Remove the trim if needed
Grip the bulb firmly
Twist the bulb counterclockwise to remove it
If it is a pin base bulb, pull it straight down and remove it from the socket
Match the replacement bulb type and wattage
Insert the new bulb into the socket
Twist clockwise until secure, if applicable
Reinstall the trim if removed
Turn the power back on
Test the light
