Turn off the light switch
Turn off power at the circuit breaker
Let the bulb cool down
Get a stable ladder or step stool if needed
Hold the bulb gently
Twist the bulb counterclockwise to remove it
Insert the new bulb into the socket
Twist the new bulb clockwise until secure
Restore power at the breaker if turned off
Turn on the light switch to test the bulb
