How To Clean Baseboard Heaters?

Turn off and unplug (or switch off breaker) before cleaning

Let heaters cool completely

Vacuum loose dust from vents, grilles, and surrounding baseboard area using a brush attachment

Use a soft cloth or microfiber towel to wipe accessible surfaces

If buildup is stubborn, use a lightly damp cloth; avoid dripping liquid into heater components

For metal fins/grilles, use a soft brush (or vacuum brush) to remove dust between fins

Check and clean the air intake and discharge openings if accessible

Remove and clean the cover/grille if your model allows it (follow manufacturer instructions)

For washable covers/grilles, wash with mild soap and water, rinse, dry fully, then reinstall

Inspect wiring and connections for damage; do not touch wiring unless instructed by the manufacturer

Ensure the area around the heater is dry and clear of debris

Wipe the floor/baseboard edges to remove dust residue

Turn the heater back on only after everything is fully dry and reassembled correctly

Repeat as needed (typically every season or when dust accumulates)
