Mix equal parts of all three primary colors (red, yellow, blue) until the mixture turns dark
Use complementary colors: combine blue with orange, or red with green, or yellow with purple until it darkens to near-black
Use a neutralizer: add small amounts of a neutral gray to any dark color until it reaches black
For paint: start with a dark base (burnt umber, Payne’s gray, or black) and deepen with small amounts of ultramarine or burnt umber
For drawing: layer dark graphite or charcoal repeatedly, then press harder for a deeper black
For ink: use dense black ink and apply multiple thin layers rather than one heavy layer
For digital art: use #000000 or #0A0A0A for near-black; adjust brightness slightly for depth
For dye/textiles: use the darkest black dye available and follow manufacturer dilution ratios; apply in multiple dips or coats
For ceramics: use black glaze or a black pigment mixed with glaze base; test-fire for correct final color
For lighting/stage: set lights to black by turning off fixtures or using black blackout gels/baffles
