How To Make Breadcrumbs?

Gather ingredients: breadcrumbs, butter or oil, salt, pepper, and optional seasonings (garlic powder, herbs, parmesan)

Choose breadcrumb type:

Fresh breadcrumbs: toast bread lightly, cool, then pulse in a food processor

Dry breadcrumbs: use store-bought or toast fresh breadcrumbs until crisp

Toast breadcrumbs (optional but recommended):

Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat

Add breadcrumbs and stir until golden and fragrant

Season with salt, pepper, and optional seasonings

Remove from heat and cool

Oven-bake breadcrumbs (for even crisping):

Preheat oven to 350°F / 175°C

Toss breadcrumbs with melted butter or oil and seasonings

Spread in a thin layer on a baking sheet

Bake 8–12 minutes, stirring once, until golden

Cool completely before storing

Make garlic-herb breadcrumbs:

Toast breadcrumbs with butter or oil

Add minced garlic or garlic powder and dried herbs during the last 1–2 minutes

Make parmesan breadcrumbs:

Toast breadcrumbs in butter or oil

Stir in grated parmesan off heat (or add during the last minute to avoid burning)

Store:

Cool fully

Keep in an airtight container up to 1 week (refrigerated) or freeze up to 2 months
