Sit in the driver’s seat and locate the hood release lever, usually under the dashboard near the left side
Pull the hood release lever until you hear the hood pop open slightly
Go to the front of the car and find the hood latch under the center edge of the hood
Slide your hand under the front edge and feel for the safety latch
Move the safety latch in the direction needed to release the hood
Lift the hood upward
If equipped, secure the hood with the prop rod or let the hood struts hold it open
