Cut the thread to a manageable length
Flatten the end of the thread between your fingers
Moisten the thread end slightly if needed
Hold the needle steady with the eye facing you
Bring the thread tip to the needle eye
Push the thread through the eye
Pull several inches of thread through the needle
Trim the thread end if it frays
Use a needle threader if the eye is too small
Use good lighting if needed
