Skim leaves and debris from the surface
Brush the pool walls, steps, and floor
Check and empty the skimmer and pump baskets
Assemble the vacuum head, pole, and hose
Attach the vacuum head to the pole
Connect the hose to the vacuum head
Fill the hose with water to remove air
Attach the hose to the skimmer or vacuum port
Set the filter valve to the correct position
Turn on the pump
Move the vacuum head slowly across the pool floor
Overlap each pass to avoid missed spots
Vacuum walls and steps if needed
Watch the filter pressure and clean as needed
Turn off the pump when finished
Remove the vacuum equipment
Backwash or clean the filter if required
Recheck water level and chemical balance
