How To Add A Line In Word?

Open your Word document.

Click where you want the line to appear.

Choose one of these options:

Type three hyphens `—` and press `Enter`.

Type three underscores `___` and press `Enter`.

Use the Shapes tool: go to **Insert** → **Shapes** → select **Line** → click and drag to draw the line.

Use a border: go to **Home** → **Borders** (or **Borders and Shading**) → choose **Bottom Border** or **Horizontal Line**.

Use the built-in separator: go to **Insert** → **Shapes** → **Line** (or **Insert** → **Pictures/Icons** if available) and draw the line.

Resize or format the line if needed:
