Blot up as much urine as possible with clean towels
If the mattress has a removable cover, remove it and wash according to care instructions
Mix 1 cup white vinegar with 1 cup water in a spray bottle
Lightly spray the affected area until damp (do not soak the mattress)
Blot with towels until dry; repeat until the smell is reduced
Sprinkle baking soda generously over the damp area
Let baking soda sit for 8–24 hours
Vacuum the baking soda thoroughly
If odor remains, lightly re-spray with the vinegar-water mix and repeat baking soda steps
For stubborn smells, apply an enzyme cleaner labeled for urine (follow label directions)
Blot excess product; let it fully dry per label directions
Use a fan and/or open windows to speed drying
Ensure the mattress is completely dry before putting on sheets
If the mattress is heavily soaked and won’t dry fully, consider professional cleaning
