How To Fit Laminate Flooring?

Measure the room and calculate the flooring needed

Acclimate the laminate planks in the room for 48 hours

Remove existing flooring if necessary

Clean and level the subfloor

Install underlay if required

Plan the plank layout and stagger the joints

Leave an expansion gap around all walls and fixed objects

Cut the first row of planks to fit if needed

Lay the first row with the tongue side facing the wall

Use spacers to maintain the expansion gap

Click or lock the next rows together according to the manufacturer’s instructions

Tap planks gently into place with a tapping block if needed

Cut planks to fit around door frames, pipes, and edges

Check each row for straight alignment as you work

Install the final row and trim planks to width if needed

Remove spacers after installation

Fit skirting boards or scotia to cover expansion gaps

Clean the floor and inspect for loose joints or gaps
