Measure the room and calculate how much flooring you need
Acclimate the planks if the manufacturer requires it
Remove baseboards, trim, and existing flooring if needed
Clean, dry, and level the subfloor
Repair cracks, holes, or uneven spots in the subfloor
Install underlayment if required by the product
Plan the layout and choose the starting wall
Snap chalk lines to keep rows straight
Cut the first row of planks to fit if necessary
Leave the required expansion gap around the perimeter
Lay the first row along the starting wall
Stagger end joints between rows
Lock or glue planks together according to the product type
Use a tapping block or roller if recommended
Cut planks to fit around doorways, vents, and corners
Continue laying rows across the room
Check alignment as you go
Trim the last row to fit the remaining space
Install transition strips where needed
Reinstall baseboards and trim
Clean the floor after installation
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for curing or use time
