Acclimate the engineered wood flooring in the room for the manufacturer-recommended time
Check that the subfloor is clean, dry, level, and structurally sound
Remove existing flooring, trim, and baseboards if needed
Repair any subfloor damage and fill low spots
Test subfloor moisture before installation
Install a moisture barrier or underlayment if required
Plan the layout and determine the starting wall
Measure the room and snap chalk lines for alignment
Cut door jambs and casings so the flooring can slide underneath
Mix planks from multiple boxes to blend color and grain
Install the first row with the tongue or groove facing the correct direction
Leave the required expansion gap around all walls and fixed objects
Secure planks using the recommended method: glue-down, nail-down, staple-down, or floating
Stagger end joints between rows
Tap planks together tightly without damaging the edges
Continue installing row by row across the room
Cut planks to fit around vents, corners, and obstacles
Install the final row and trim planks to width as needed
Reinstall or replace baseboards, quarter round, and transition strips
Clean the floor and remove debris
Follow the manufacturer’s curing or traffic-wait instructions before heavy use
