Place the jar on a stable, flat surface.
Run the lid under hot tap water for 30–60 seconds.
Use a rubber jar opener or a thick cloth for extra grip.
Hold the jar firmly with one hand and twist the lid counterclockwise with the other.
If it still won’t open, tap the lid lightly around the edge with a spoon or the back of a knife.
Try again with the cloth or rubber grip while tapping continues.
If the lid is stuck, apply gentle downward pressure while twisting counterclockwise.
For stubborn lids, use a jar wrench or strap wrench.
If the lid is metal and safe to do so, use a rubber grip plus steady pressure rather than jerking.
If the jar is sealed due to vacuum, press down on the center of the lid while twisting counterclockwise.
Stop if the jar or lid becomes damaged or if contents leak.
If none of these work, ask a person with more strength or use a commercial jar opener tool.
