Choose the knot you need (common options: Improved Clinch Knot, Palomar Knot, Uni Knot, Double Uni Knot, Albright Knot)
Improved Clinch Knot
Thread the line through the eye of the hook
Make 5–7 wraps around the standing line
Pass the tag end through the small loop above the eye
Pass the tag end through the larger loop you just created
Moisten the knot and pull both ends to tighten
Trim the tag end close to the knot
Palomar Knot
Double the line and pass the loop through the hook eye
Tie an overhand knot with the doubled line (hook stays outside the knot)
Pull the hook through the overhand knot
Moisten and pull the standing line and tag end to tighten
Trim the tag end
Uni Knot
Thread the line through the eye of the hook
Form a loop by crossing the tag end over the standing line
Wrap the tag end around the standing line 5–6 times
Pass the tag end back through the loop near the eye
Moisten and pull to tighten
Trim the tag end
Double Uni Knot (line-to-line)
Overlap the two lines with 6–8 inches of overlap
Tie a Uni knot in the first line using the second line as the loop guide
Tie a Uni knot in the second line using the first line as the loop guide
Pull both standing lines to slide the knots together
Trim tag ends close to the knots
Albright Knot (line-to-line, different diameters)
Overlap the heavier line with the lighter line by 6–8 inches
Form a loop in the lighter line and wrap the tag end around the heavier line 10–15 times
Thread the tag end through the loop in the lighter line
Repeat with the heavier line by wrapping it 3–5 times around the lighter line
Moisten and pull both knots to tighten
Trim tag ends close to the knots
