Place the baby upright against your chest or over your shoulder
Support the baby’s head and neck with one hand
Gently pat or rub the baby’s back with an open hand
Try gentle back pats for 5–10 minutes
If needed, switch positions and repeat gentle patting
Keep the baby’s tummy supported and avoid pressing on the belly
Pause and check if the baby has burped; stop when done
If the baby seems uncomfortable, reduce force and try a different position
If vomiting is forceful, frequent, or the baby has trouble breathing, seek medical care
