Comb from scalp to ends, wiping the comb after each pass
Remove eggs from the hair shaft with your fingers or the comb
Repeat combing every 2 to 3 days for at least 2 weeks
Use an over-the-counter lice treatment if needed, following the label exactly
Recheck the scalp and hair daily for remaining eggs
Wash bedding, hats, brushes, and recently used clothing in hot water
Dry items on high heat
Seal non-washable items in a plastic bag for 2 weeks
Vacuum furniture, car seats, and floors
Avoid sharing combs, hats, pillows, or hair accessories
Treat close household contacts if advised by a healthcare professional
See a doctor if lice eggs keep returning or treatment does not work
