Wash 1 cup rice thoroughly and soak it for 30 minutes
Drain the rice and dry it slightly
Grind it into a fine powder
Sieve the rice flour to remove lumps
Boil 1 cup water with a pinch of salt and 1 teaspoon ghee
Add the rice flour gradually to the boiling water
Mix well and cook until it forms a soft dough
Cover and let the dough cool slightly
Prepare the filling by mixing 1 cup grated coconut, 1 cup jaggery, 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder, and 1 teaspoon ghee in a pan
Cook the filling on low heat until the jaggery melts and the mixture thickens
Let the filling cool
Grease your hands with ghee
Take a small portion of dough and flatten it into a cup shape
Place 1 to 2 teaspoons of filling in the center
Bring the edges together and shape into a modak
Repeat with the remaining dough and filling
Steam the modaks in a greased steamer plate for 10 to 15 minutes
Remove carefully and serve warm with ghee
