How To Make Dandelion Wine?

Gather fresh dandelion blossoms from an unsprayed area

Remove stems and green parts, using only the yellow petals

Rinse the petals gently to remove dirt and insects

Place the petals in a large sanitized pot or fermenter

Add boiling water over the petals

Cover and steep for 24 to 48 hours

Strain out the petals and discard them

Add sugar to the strained liquid and stir until dissolved

Add lemon juice and orange juice or zest if desired

Add wine yeast after the liquid has cooled to room temperature

Transfer the mixture to a sanitized fermentation vessel

Attach an airlock

Let it ferment in a cool, dark place for several weeks

Rack the wine off the sediment into a clean vessel

Allow it to age for several months

Bottle the wine in sanitized bottles

Store the bottles for additional aging before drinking
