Mark the anchor location on the drywall
Choose the correct anchor type for the weight of the item
Drill a pilot hole if the anchor requires one
Insert the anchor into the hole
Tap the anchor gently until it is flush with the wall
Screw the anchor in if it is a self-drilling type
Tighten the screw to expand the anchor if needed
Remove the screw if required, then attach the item
Drive the screw into the anchor until secure
Check that the anchor is firmly seated before hanging anything
