Choose a reactive bowling ball with finger holes that fit properly
Insert your middle and ring fingers fully into the holes
Place your thumb fully into the thumb hole
Hold the ball with a relaxed grip
Use a smooth four-step or five-step approach
Keep your wrist firm and straight during the swing
Let the ball swing naturally like a pendulum
Keep your hand behind and slightly under the ball at release
Rotate your fingers upward and around the side of the ball at release
Release the thumb first, then the fingers
Finish with your hand pointing toward your target
Practice the timing of the release to create consistent spin
Adjust hand position slightly for more or less hook
Use a clean, dry ball surface for better grip
Practice on the lane with a coach or experienced bowler if possible
