Turn off power to the dryer
Move the dryer away from the wall
Measure the distance from the dryer exhaust to the exterior vent
Use rigid or semi-rigid metal ducting
Cut the duct to the needed length
Attach a vent clamp to the dryer exhaust outlet
Slide the duct onto the dryer outlet
Tighten the clamp securely
Attach the other end of the duct to the wall vent
Secure that connection with a clamp
Keep the duct as short and straight as possible
Avoid kinks, sharp bends, and crushed sections
Seal joints with foil HVAC tape if needed
Do not use screws that protrude into the duct
Push the dryer back into place without crushing the duct
Check that the vent flap opens freely
Restore power and test the dryer airflow
