Measure the room and calculate the flooring needed

Acclimate the vinyl planks or sheets if required by the manufacturer

Remove baseboards, trim, and any existing flooring if necessary

Clean the subfloor thoroughly

Repair cracks, holes, and uneven areas in the subfloor

Make sure the subfloor is dry, level, and smooth

Plan the layout and determine the starting wall

Snap chalk lines if needed to keep rows straight

Cut the first row of vinyl to fit the space

Install underlayment if required

Lay the first plank or sheet along the starting wall

Leave the recommended expansion gap around the edges

Connect planks using the click-lock system or apply adhesive for glue-down vinyl

Stagger end joints between rows

Continue laying flooring row by row

Cut pieces to fit around corners, doorways, and obstacles

Use a utility knife or flooring cutter for precise cuts

Roll the floor if required for adhesive installation

Install transition strips where needed

Reinstall baseboards and trim

Clean the finished floor and inspect for gaps or loose sections
