Set up the board with 19 hex tiles, number tokens, ports, and the robber
Each player chooses a color and takes 5 settlements, 4 cities, and 15 roads
Place two settlements and two roads on the board in turn order
Collect starting resources from the second settlement you place
On your turn, roll two dice
All players collect resources from hexes matching the dice number on their settlements and cities
If a 7 is rolled, players with more than 7 cards discard half their hand
Move the robber to a new hex when a 7 is rolled
Steal one random resource card from a player with a settlement or city on the robber’s hex
Build roads by paying 1 brick and 1 lumber
Build settlements by paying 1 brick, 1 lumber, 1 wool, and 1 grain
Build cities by paying 2 grain and 3 ore
Buy development cards by paying 1 wool, 1 grain, and 1 ore
Trade with other players by negotiation
Trade with the bank at 4 of one resource for 1 of any resource
Trade with ports for better exchange rates if you have access
Use development cards according to their type
Aim to connect roads, expand settlements, and upgrade to cities
Earn 1 victory point per settlement
Earn 2 victory points per city
Earn victory points from certain development cards and special achievements
Win by reaching 10 victory points on your turn
