Wash your hands thoroughly
Clean and dry the wound area
Stop any bleeding before applying
Hold the wound edges together gently
Remove the backing from one Steri Strip
Place the strip across the wound, perpendicular to the cut
Press the ends firmly onto clean, dry skin
Apply additional strips about 1/8 to 1/4 inch apart
Keep the wound edges aligned while applying each strip
Do not stretch the strips
Place a larger dressing over the strips if needed
Keep the area dry for the first 24 to 48 hours
Avoid soaking the area in water
Let the strips fall off on their own
Trim loose ends if needed
Seek medical care if the wound opens, bleeds, becomes red, swollen, or drains pus
