Dry the surface completely with a microfiber towel
Inspect the scratch to see if it is clear coat only or deeper
Use masking tape to protect nearby trim and paint edges
Apply scratch remover or rubbing compound to a clean applicator pad
Buff the scratch in small circular or back-and-forth motions with light pressure
Wipe away residue with a clean microfiber towel
Repeat if needed until the scratch fades
Apply polish to restore shine
Apply wax or sealant to protect the repaired area
If the scratch catches a fingernail or exposes primer or metal, have it professionally repaired
