Measure the room and mattress size
Choose a bunk bed design and height
Gather lumber, plywood, screws, bolts, wood glue, and tools
Cut all frame parts to size
Sand all edges and surfaces
Build the four corner posts
Assemble the lower bed frame
Install support slats or a plywood base
Build the upper bed frame
Attach the upper frame to the corner posts
Secure all joints with bolts and screws
Install guardrails on the top bunk
Build and attach the ladder
Add mattress supports to both bunks
Check that all parts are square and level
Tighten all fasteners
Test the bed for stability and weight support
Finish with paint, stain, or sealant
Place mattresses and verify safe clearance
