Dial 911
If 911 does not connect, call the local emergency number for that state
If using a mobile phone, make sure you have signal or try moving to a different location
If you are near a landline, use it if your mobile call fails
Tell the dispatcher your exact location, including city, state, street address, and nearby landmarks
State the emergency clearly and briefly
Follow the dispatcher’s instructions
If you are calling for someone else, provide the victim’s location and condition
If you cannot speak, stay on the line if possible and use text-to-911 if available
If you are outside the U.S., use the local emergency number instead of 911
