Plan your clothing: layers, rain gear, warm sleep clothes, spare socks
Bring cooking gear: stove (if used), fuel, lighter/matches, cookware, utensils
Pack food and water: drinking water, water filter/purifier (if needed), food storage bags/containers
Prepare a simple menu for the trip length
Bring a trash bag and follow Leave No Trace practices
Carry a first-aid kit and any personal medications
Pack navigation and communication: map/compass or GPS, emergency whistle, phone with offline maps
Bring fire tools if allowed: firewood, fire starter, fire ring/grill (if provided)
Follow local fire rules and use only established fire areas
Keep hygiene items: biodegradable soap, toilet kit, trowel (if needed), hand sanitizer, wipes
Set up sleeping area: clear ground debris, use a groundsheet, ventilate the tent
Set up cooking area away from the sleeping area and downwind of tents

Clean up before leaving: extinguish fires fully, remove waste, inspect the site
