How To Camp?

Choose a suitable campsite (legal, safe, and permitted)

Check weather, temperature, wind, and precipitation forecasts

Pack essentials: tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, headlamp/flashlight, batteries

Bring shelter and setup items: tent stakes, guylines, mallet, tarp (optional)

Plan your clothing: layers, rain gear, warm sleep clothes, spare socks

Bring cooking gear: stove (if used), fuel, lighter/matches, cookware, utensils

Pack food and water: drinking water, water filter/purifier (if needed), food storage bags/containers

Prepare a simple menu for the trip length

Bring a trash bag and follow Leave No Trace practices

Carry a first-aid kit and any personal medications

Pack navigation and communication: map/compass or GPS, emergency whistle, phone with offline maps

Bring fire tools if allowed: firewood, fire starter, fire ring/grill (if provided)

Follow local fire rules and use only established fire areas

Keep hygiene items: biodegradable soap, toilet kit, trowel (if needed), hand sanitizer, wipes

Set up sleeping area: clear ground debris, use a groundsheet, ventilate the tent

Set up cooking area away from the sleeping area and downwind of tents

Store food properly to prevent wildlife issues (bear canister/approved containers)

Keep a clean campsite: wipe surfaces, secure trash, keep scraps sealed

Manage lighting: use headlamp for tasks, keep flames and hot surfaces attended

Stay safe: tell someone your plan, check surroundings, avoid hazards (dead trees, flooding areas)

Maintain comfort: ventilate tent, manage condensation, dress in layers at night

Plan breaks and hydration: drink regularly and eat on schedule

Pack out everything you bring in

Clean up before leaving: extinguish fires fully, remove waste, inspect the site

Leave the campsite better or at least as good as you found it
