How to Care for Cradle Cap?

Wash the scalp gently with a mild baby shampoo

Massage the scalp softly with your fingers

Use a soft brush or fine-tooth comb to loosen flakes after washing

Apply a small amount of baby oil, mineral oil, or petroleum jelly to soften scales before washing

Leave the oil on for a short time, then wash it out thoroughly

Do not pick, scratch, or peel the scales

Wash the scalp regularly, but avoid over-washing

Keep the scalp clean and dry

Use a medicated shampoo only if recommended by a pediatrician

Contact a pediatrician if the cradle cap spreads, becomes red or swollen, or does not improve
