Park on level ground and set the parking brake

Warm the engine for a few minutes, then turn it off

Wipe the filter mounting surface clean

Lightly coat the new filter’s rubber gasket with fresh oil

Install the new filter by hand until the gasket contacts the mounting surface, then tighten per manufacturer instructions

Add the correct amount of new oil (check the dipstick)

Start the engine and let it run for about 30–60 seconds

Check for leaks around the drain plug and oil filter

Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes
