Remove the cap from the Apple Pencil (1st generation)
Plug the Lightning connector into the iPhone’s Lightning port or into a Lightning USB power adapter
For Apple Pencil (2nd generation), attach it to the side of the iPad’s magnetic connector
Keep the Pencil aligned to the magnetic area until it starts charging
Check the iPad battery widget or the lock screen to confirm charging
If charging doesn’t start, reseat the Pencil or clean the connector area
Use a compatible iPad model for Apple Pencil (2nd generation) charging via the magnetic connector
