Wash and dry your hands

Insert a test strip into the glucose meter

Use a lancing device to prick the side of your fingertip

Gently squeeze to get a small drop of blood

Touch the blood drop to the test strip

Wait for the meter to display the result

Record the reading if needed

Dispose of the lancet and strip safely

Follow your doctor’s instructions for when to test

Use a continuous glucose monitor if prescribed
