Park the vehicle on a level surface
Turn off the engine and let it cool completely
Open the hood
Locate the coolant reservoir
Check the coolant level against the MIN and MAX marks
Inspect the coolant color and condition
Check for leaks around the reservoir, hoses, and radiator
If needed, remove the radiator cap only when the engine is cold
Confirm the coolant reaches the filler neck if checking at the radiator
Add the correct type of coolant if the level is low
Reinstall the cap securely
Close the hood
Recheck the level after driving if necessary
