Vacuum the carpet thoroughly in multiple directions
Treat visible stains first using an appropriate cleaner for the stain type
Blot stains with a clean white cloth; do not rub
Test any cleaner in an inconspicuous area first
For spot cleaning, mix mild dish soap with warm water and apply lightly with a cloth
Rinse the cleaned area with clean water using a lightly damp cloth
Blot again to remove as much moisture as possible
If using a carpet shampoo or extractor, follow the product directions for dilution and dwell time
Pre-treat heavily soiled areas before shampooing
Work in small sections to avoid overwetting the carpet
Use the extractor or cleaning machine with slow, even passes
Rinse if the product requires or if residue is visible
Remove excess water with multiple passes using the machine or towels
Dry the carpet completely using fans and/or open windows
Brush the carpet fibers after drying to restore texture
Dispose of any used cleaning cloths and empty/clean the equipment per instructions
