How To Clean A Rug?

Check the rug care label for washing or cleaning instructions

Vacuum both sides of the rug thoroughly

Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry white cloth

Test any cleaner in an inconspicuous area first

For light dirt: mix mild detergent with cool water and blot gently

For general cleaning: use a rug shampoo or upholstery cleaner labeled safe for rugs

Work from the outside of stains toward the center

Use a soft brush to loosen embedded dirt, then blot and rinse lightly with cool water

Avoid soaking the rug backing and fringe

Rinse with minimal water to prevent residue buildup

Remove excess water by blotting with dry towels

Air-dry completely with good ventilation and airflow

Lay flat to dry if possible, or hang only if the rug manufacturer recommends it

Keep the rug out of direct sunlight and avoid high heat

Vacuum again once fully dry to restore fibers

For wool or delicate rugs: use a cleaner labeled for wool or take to a professional cleaner

For large or heavily soiled rugs: consider professional cleaning or steam cleaning if the label allows it

Do not use bleach, harsh solvents, or carpet steamers unless the rug label permits

Store only when fully dry, rolled with breathable material to prevent mildew
