Empty the Recycle Bin
Delete files from Downloads, Desktop, and Documents that you no longer need
Use Storage Sense
Open Settings > System > Storage
Turn on Storage Sense
Run Disk Cleanup
Search for Disk Cleanup in the Start menu
Select C: drive
Check temporary files, system files, and other unnecessary items
Delete temporary files
Open Settings > System > Storage > Temporary files
Remove Windows Update Cleanup
Uninstall unused apps and programs
Open Settings > Apps > Apps & features
Sort by size and remove large unused apps
Delete temporary files manually
Press Win + R
Type %temp%
Delete the files in the folder
Press Win + R
Type temp
Delete the files in the folder
Clear browser cache
Remove old restore points
Open System Protection
Reduce disk space used by restore points
Move large files to another drive or external storage
Move photos, videos, and archives off C:
Disable hibernation if not needed
Open Command Prompt as administrator
Run powercfg -h off
Remove duplicate files
Delete unused user accounts and profiles
Clean the Windows.old folder if present
Use OneDrive Files On-Demand
Empty the Downloads folder regularly
Check for large hidden files with Storage settings
Run antivirus scan to remove unwanted files
Compress files or folders you rarely use
Keep at least 15 to 20 percent free space on C:
