Wear gloves and protect clothing, skin, and surfaces
Wash your hair with shampoo and do not use conditioner
Mix the Kool-Aid powder with hot water until fully dissolved
Let the mixture cool to a safe warm temperature
Apply petroleum jelly along your hairline and ears
Section your hair for even application
Soak or brush the Kool-Aid mixture onto the hair
Saturate the strands thoroughly
Cover your hair with a plastic cap
Leave it on for 15 to 60 minutes
Rinse with cool water until the water runs mostly clear
Avoid shampooing right away
Repeat if you want a stronger color
Use caution on light or porous hair because staining may last longer
