Make sure your Apple Pencil is compatible with your iPad
Turn on Bluetooth on your iPad
Remove the cap from Apple Pencil 1st generation and plug it into the iPad’s Lightning port
Tap Pair when the pairing prompt appears
For Apple Pencil 2nd generation, attach it to the magnetic connector on the side of the iPad
Tap Pair when the pairing prompt appears
For Apple Pencil USB-C, connect it to the iPad with a USB-C cable and follow the pairing prompt
Keep the Apple Pencil connected until pairing is complete
Test the Apple Pencil in a note or drawing app
