Make sure both vehicles are turned off
Put both transmissions in park or neutral and set the parking brakes
Identify the positive battery terminals marked with a plus sign
Connect one red clamp to the dead battery’s positive terminal
Connect the other red clamp to the good battery’s positive terminal
Identify a clean, unpainted metal ground on the dead vehicle away from the battery
Connect one black clamp to the good battery’s negative terminal
Connect the other black clamp to the grounded metal point on the dead vehicle
Start the working vehicle and let it run for a few minutes
Try starting the dead vehicle
Remove the clamps in reverse order
Keep the clamps from touching each other while connected
