Trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts
Remove any yellow or damaged outer leaves
Rinse the Brussels sprouts under cold water
Cut larger sprouts in half
Heat a skillet over medium heat
Add oil or butter to the skillet
Place the Brussels sprouts in the skillet cut side down if halved
Season with salt and pepper
Cook for 5 to 7 minutes without stirring
Stir or flip the sprouts
Cook for another 5 to 8 minutes until tender and browned
Add garlic, lemon juice, or other seasonings if desired
Serve immediately
