Rinse the glutinous rice 3 to 5 times until the water runs mostly clear
Soak the rice in water for 4 to 8 hours or overnight
Drain the rice completely
Line a steamer with cheesecloth or a clean steaming cloth
Spread the rice evenly in the steamer
Steam over medium heat for 20 to 30 minutes
Flip or stir the rice halfway through steaming
Check if the rice is tender and sticky
Steam for a few more minutes if needed
Serve immediately or use in your recipe
