How To Cook Lentils?

Rinse lentils under cold water

Remove any debris or damaged lentils

Add lentils to a pot

Add water or broth

Use 3 cups liquid for 1 cup lentils

Bring to a boil

Reduce heat to a simmer

Cook uncovered

Simmer red lentils for 10–15 minutes

Simmer green or brown lentils for 20–30 minutes

Simmer black lentils for 25–35 minutes

Check for tenderness

Drain excess liquid

Season with salt after cooking

Serve warm or let cool for later use
